1961 Gaja. Angelo Gaja is the most significant wine maker in modern Italian history. He took fine Italian wine to the national stage. His 1961 was hailed as one of the greatest Italian wines made up until that time. A true Italian classic
1968 Sassicaia. The first of the Super Tuscans. A blend of Bordeaux varieties based on Cabernet. It proved that Tuscany could make a bigger blend of non traditional grapes. The grandfather of Solia, Tignanello, Ornellaia, Masseto, and all other Super Tuscans.
1955 Biondi Santi. Biondi Santi is the father of all Brunello’s. Considered the greatest Brunello ever produced. Graded 100 for its ability to age 100 years. Wine spectator said “the greatest Italian wine of the Twentieth Century”. Requested by the King of England for royal celebrations.
